The Meaning of Mandorla

mandorla_sml.jpg Our name MANDORLA is inspired by the ancient symbol of the mandorla - the almond shaped segment that is formed when two circles partly overlap. It has been described as the overlap of heaven and earth. It represents the opposites experienced when we are between different demands - the yin and yang, the feminine and masculine, the rational and intuitive.

When the banished elements of our life creep back in from our shadow we need an understanding of the mandorla. It is the beginning of the healing of the split between whatever has been torn apart. It is a place of poetry, metaphor and deep understanding. It is a place where we can be reminded that there are links between what we have always seen as opposites; a possible synthesis, reconciliation and resolution.

In a social political and economic times of discord and disharmony, the Mandorla is the place of co-existence and similarity whilst honouring diversity.
